Can I record a service when it includes the use of a sound track?

Tuesday March 6, 2007

Unrated: (0)

No, not without permission from the producer of the sound track. A sound track has two copyright owners involved: the owner of the song copyright on the track and the owner of the track itself. Your Church Copyright Licence would cover the recording of the song in the worship service if the copyright owner is from the Authorised Catalogue List but it would not cover the copying of the sound track itself. Permission would have to be received from the producer of the sound track.

If an asterisk (*) is beside a catalogue in the Authorised Catalogue List, then recording from songs in that catalogue is not covered by this Licence.
